The Shanghai office was established in 1999 consolidating the Firm's strong presence in Asia. The office specializes in all aspects of international commercial maritime and admiralty law, corporate, ship sale and purchase, new buildings, ship repair and conversion, insurance, commodities and trade. The office conducts litigation, arbitration and mediation in several jurisdictions. We have particular expertise in charterparty disputes and in advising clients trading with and within China. We also advise on joint venture and inward investment projects throughout China. These include projects in the logistics, manufacturing, infrastructure, finance and service sectors. Paul Aston relocated from our Singapore office and became Office Head of our Shanghai Office since 1 March 2008. Nicholas Poynder has been promoted to be a Partner since 1 May 2008. Partners of our Hong Kong office, Henry Fung and Patrick Yeung, also spend a great deal of time based in our Shanghai office. Senior Maritime Consultant to the firm Peter Rees Smith has been resident in Shanghai since February 2006.
