History:

Actis was established in 2004 after spinning out from CDC, the UK’s development arm, founded in 1948 to invest in the Commonwealth.

This was a new private equity firm with a unique heritage.

Many members of the Actis management and investment teams had worked at CDC and brought years of experience in investing across Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Our beginnings and history have provided us with a unique and long-standing knowledge of our markets and an unrivalled network of contacts and advisors.
