Overview:
Welcome
Dana C. Twight
I am an independent, fee-only financial adviser who provides guidance and advice to individuals and families without product sales. Often people see a financial planner at a time of transition, a marriage, a death, a new job, or retirement. Or, would you like to learn more about, spending, saving, and sharing in a safe and convivial atmosphere? Want skilled nudging and motivation? Perhaps my firm can be of assistance. I am a fee-only financial adviser with a CFP® designation and years of experience with balancing clients wants, needs and goals.

Twight Financial Education is based in Seattle, Washington. I have been a stockbroker, investment executive, or financial educator in Seattle since 1985. I was a Registered Representative from 1984-2004 (holding various securities licenses) and earned my CFP® designation in 1994. Twight Financial is independent and receives compensation solely from clients.

History:
My Story
Dana C. Twight
As a stockbroker, investment executive, financial advisor or educator since 1985, I have worked to empower clients to make the best financial decisions for their own priorities. My advising philosophy is firmly in the "Guide on the Side" camp in the tradition of educators, rather than the less collaborative "Sage on the Stage" approach. My preference for the role of coach and advisor led me to ultimately form Twight Financial Education in 2011.
I provide financial education, training and consulting to both individuals and businesses through several professional roles:
Certified Financial Planner since 1994
Registered Investment Advisor since 2011
Employer Assistance Plan (EAP) since 2012
Military Personal Financial Counselor 2015
Financial Literacy Trainer (informally, always)

My broad experience leads to a variety of projects with clients from advising new college graduates on balancing short-term and long-term priorities to addressing the question, "Do I have enough?" Some of my favorite client engagements involve financial planning, retirement planning, employee 401(k) education, and investment allocation planning. As a fee-only financial planner (paid only by my clients), I do not sell any investment or insurance products. This allows me to offer unbiased, independent advice and knowledge while working with you on your goals and dreams.
Little known tidbit: My Strengths Finder themes are Activator, Belief, Input, Intellection, and Learner.

Community Service
Public service and volunteerism are core values for me. I served on the Washington State Board of Education for four years and as a United Way of King County Loaned Executive in 2005. These experiences led me to volunteer on two local workforce development boards, and the executive board of the League of Women Voters of Seattle-King County. I am a proud lifetime member of the University of Washington Alumni Association, the Girl Scouts and the American Association of University Women.
I have been on the Board of Washington Jump$tart and I am a general member of Financial Education Public Private Partnership (aka FEPPP). I have been an active member of the Emerald City Toastmasters Club in Seattle since 2009. Toastmasters is one way that I fuel my passion for lifelong learning.
This holiday season I am supporting the holiday drive at Office Nomads to donate to Northwest Harvest. Join me here.
Personal - Although I have lived in a log cabin in a national park, I have lived in Tacoma or Seattle most of my life, with two years in Prague, Czech Republic. Members of my immediate family also live in the Seattle area and I enjoy spending time with them, attending live arts programs, training for half-marathons and occasionally teaching group cycling. |
