The firm was voted by the Asian Counsel as the Emerging Firm of the Year India 2009. The firm was also awarded the Emerging M&A Firm of the Year (India) at the Corporate INTL Global Awards, 2010. Asia law Profiles, 2010 has remarked that the firm's legal acumen is comparable to any of the top firms. Phoenix Legal has been adjudged Winner in the category 'Securitisation and Structured Finance' by Indian Business Law Journal's 2010 Indian Law Firm Awards.
Recently, the firm has been declared the Winner in the categories 'Private Equity Law Firm of the Year' and 'Banking and Finance Law Firm of the Year' in the Finance Monthly – Law Awards 2011.

Phoenix Legal makes its first appearance in the rankings this year, with peers and clients uniting in support for the firm's expertise and ability. "Areas of improvement [for the firm], which at the moment I find hard to think of, could be their visibility in the legal community. This may need some improvement as they are better than nearly all legal firms but have not gotten the recognition yet," suggests a client. The firm has moved to a new office in Delhi, and continues to work out of its well-situated and trendy Lower Parel office in Mumbai. Though modestly sized, the firm maintains a steady and impressive flow of work. A client praises the personnel: "They're quite professional in their approach and ideally their knowledge of their company and legal structures. They deliver the work on time and understand the value of the time."

A high profile matter for the firm was its representation of Bank of America on the issue of commercial paper notes by ICICI Bank in the US commercial paper market. Partner Sawant Singh was the lead on this matter, which closed in November 2010 and was valued at $545 million.
