History:
Loeb & Loeb was established in 1909. Founders Edwin and Joseph Loeb played a major role in the development of the City of Los Angeles in the early 1900s, helping to establish such institutions as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Union Bank of California. In 1986, Loeb & Loeb merged with Hess Segal, a New York firm of comparable quality and vintage.
We have expanded aggressively through lateral hiring in recent years. In 2009, the firm opened a representative office in Beijing to service a rapidly growing number of Asian clients, and support our active international practice. That same year, the firm expanded its transactional and regulatory platform with the addition of a premier Energy Group, and opened the Washington, DC, office. Loeb & Loeb enhanced its Intellectual Property Group with the addition of a patent litigation and counseling team that augments our strengths in copyright and trademark law, unfair trade practices and other cutting edge licensing and technology issues.
In previous years, the firm welcomed attorneys to our New York office who brought significant experience in all aspects of real estate finance and commercial leasing, and we added to our Advanced Media and Technology, Private Equity, Corporate, Litigation and ERISA and Executive Compensation practices. In Los Angeles, we acquired a team of nationally recognized trusts and estates lawyers and also expanded the Corporate and Litigation practices. In Chicago, we added practitioners to our national Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Creditors' Rights, Commercial Finance and Litigation practices.
In 2005, the firm welcomed 15 lateral partners to core areas of practice including Bankruptcy, Corporate, Securities, Intellectual Property Litigation, Securities Litigation, Tax and Trusts and Estates. We also welcomed Gray Davis, former Governor of California, to the firm as of counsel in late 2004. Also in that year, we added partners in a number of key areas, including a lateral group from Richman, Mann, Chizever, Phillips & Duboff in Los Angeles. |
