Opened office in Berne in 1955. Current name adopted in May 1991 to reflect the merger of Algemene Bank Nederland (Suisse) (establ. 1960), and Amro Bank und Finanz (establ. 1955). Reorganization in 1997-8 to focus on private banking. Hub of the group's international private banking activities.
