Our Practice
The Firm’s Budapest office opened in 1991. The office is staffed by a combination of Hungarian, UK- and US-qualified attorneys who are proficient in Hungarian, English, German, French, Spanish, Russian and Serbo-Croatian. The office’s traditional strengths in mergers and acquisitions, private equity and privatization transactions are complemented by a leading capital markets and finance capability. The Firm has been operating in Hungary as Siegler Law Office/Weil, Gotshal & Manges since 2004.
The Budapest legal team represents clients in a range of international and cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, privatizations, regulatory matters, joint ventures, capital markets transactions, bank financings, public offerings and greenfield projects.
The office works in close coordination with our other Central European offices in the Czech Republic and Poland to deliver integrated services to our clients. This well-established and highly-regarded regional collaboration puts us at the forefront in providing legal advice and assistance to Hungarian and international investors participating in Central and Eastern European markets. Through Weil’s extensive corresponding counsel network, the Budapest office cooperates with firms throughout the Southeastern European region, in particular in Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia.
