Overview:

In our opinion, a reliance on past investment performance could very well result in an investor falling short of his/her investment objectives. Without guidance, it is not uncommon for investors to purchase a mutual fund based on the fund’s past performance, resulting in the fund being purchased at a historically higher price. As the fund fluctuates, some investors lose patience and begin looking for a “better performing” fund to replace the first. Once the switch in funds is made, it could possibly result in the first fund being sold at a lower price than it was purchased.

History:

Fundamental Advisors, Inc., a registered investment advisor, was founded in Houston, Texas in 2002 by J. Christopher Harris.

Chris has 25 years experience in the financial field. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Texas A&M University, he began his career in public accounting in Houston TX. After 8 years in public accounting, he discovered his passion actually is with assisting people with their investments. To satisfy this calling, he began trading foreign currencies on the open spot market (FOREX). This fast paced, volatile, and unforgiving environment led him next to the brokerage world of Smith Barney where he honed his investment skills.

Chris continually sought out a more logical and structured style to managing investments rather than the more predominant active management he had been exposed to. Passive asset class investing provided the strategy he was searching for.

He founded Fundamental Advisors using Passive Institutional Investment Strategies as the Fundamental portfolio building blocks.
