Overview:

In Switzerland, there are only 14 banks which may claim the prestigious status of private bankers. In order to be a private banker in Switzerland, in addition to the capital required by law, the partners must pledge their entire personal assets against the bank’s liabilities. No other banking institution gives a guarantee of this kind. Another characteristic of private bankers is the fact that at least one of the partners must have the same name as that of the bank.
The bank was established in 1845, however, the banking tradition of the Gonet family goes back as far as 1842, when Louis Gonet formed the first family bank.
Today the bank is represented by the fourth and fifth generations.
