Founded in 1976, Kabat, Schertzer, De La Torre, Taraboulos & Co. (KSDT) is one of the largest financial accounting, advisory and consulting firms in South Florida. Our professionals combine years of technical expertise, industry knowledge and national firm experience to deliver the personalized services that clients need to achieve their unique individual and business goals.

History: 

KSDT TIMELINE
1976
Former New Jersey CPA Larry Kabat and New York CPA Michael Schertzer establish Kabat Schertzer & Company in Kendall, Fla., with a unique focus on serving the tax, accounting and consulting needs of Florida's growing apparel and textile industries.

1980
A New York accounting firm chooses to merge with Kabat, Schertzer & Co. to establish its presence in South Florida.

1982
Kabat, Schertzer & Co. parts with the New York firm and continues growing its regional business.

2004
Former "Big Four" accounting professionals Jorge De La Torre and brothers Jeff and Robert Taraboulos establish De La Torre, Taraboulos & Company in Miami.

2005
De La Torre, Taraboulos & Company opens tax, accounting and advisory office in Kendall, FL., in the same building as Kabat, Schertzer & Co.

2006
De La Torre, Taraboulos & Company acquires boutique Miami accounting firm and merges in a burgeoning Miami tax practice.

2008
Kabat, Schertzer merges with De La Torre, Taraboulos & Co. to establish Kabat, Schertzer, De La Torre, Taraboulos & Co. (KSDT).

2012
KSDT establishes a Forensic and Litigation Support practice with the hiring of Elgin Polo and names Jeffrey Taraboulos KSDT’s managing partner.

2013

KSDT marks its first of many appearances on the South Florida Business Journal's annual list of the 25-largest accounting firms in the region, based on billing and number of CPAs employed. In addition, the South Florida Legal Guide names Jeffrey Taraboulos and Elgin Polo “Top CPAs and Financial Professionals in Litigation Support.”

KSDT expands into Broward County when it merges with a Hollywood. Fla.-based tax advisory and financial planning firm serving international clients. The same year, the firm merges with one of the largest tax advisory firms in Homestead and the Florida Keys, and establishes its second Miami office.

2014

KSDT marks its first of many appearances on the South Florida Business Journal's annual list of the region’s top-20 litigation-support firm while celebrating Managing Partner Jeffrey Taraboulos’s recognition as a South Florida “Power Leaders in Law & Accounting.”

KSDT expands its South Miami headquarters to more than 11,000 square feet, taking over the entire sixth floor of the office building.

2015

KSDT expands into Southern Palm Beach County through a merger with a Coral Springs, Fla., firm that serves the audit, accounting and tax-services needs of labor unions and employee benefit plans.  In addition, the firm becomes a registrant with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and expands its breath of services to the broker-dealer market through its merger with a 50-year-old tax accounting, consulting and audit services firm.

KSDT sponsors Erik Jones and Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) at the final race of the NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series, Nov. 20, at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead. Fla.

2016

KSDT opens a 2,505-square-foot office in Weston, Fla., to serve its growing staff and client base north and west of Miami-Dade County.

KSDT merges with a tax accounting and advisory firm serving individuals and small businesses throughout the world.

KSDT earns recognition from Accounting Today as the second fastest-growing accounting firm in all of the U.S., based on revenue growth, and among the top-18 leading firms in the Gulf Coast region, based on net revenue.  In addition, the South Florida Business Journal names KSDT the 7th fastest-growing private company in the region with revenue under $25 million and the 57th fastest-growing company in the state, based on two year revenue growth.

KSDT sponsors Homestead Miami Speedway and Christopher Bell and Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) at the final race of the NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series, Nov. 21, at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead. Fla.

2017

KSDT expands its domestic and international tax and audit services with the addition of Les Adler and Jorge Aldecoa as partners and Bernie Swichkow as a senior advisor. At the same time, the firm establishes an affiliation with Integra International, an association of more than 120 accounting firms in 66 countries, of which Adler and Swichkow are founding members.

KSDT makes its second appearance on the South Florida Business Journal annual list of the region’s fastest-growing private companies with revenue under $25 million.

The South Florida Business Journal names KSDT the 10th fastest-growing private company in the region with revenue under $25 million and the 80th fastest-growing company in the state, based on two year revenue growth.
