Our Founder

Donald Cummings is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has more than 25 years of experience in the financial industry. His background includes fixed income, equities, and equity derivatives and his early market experience dates back to the mid 1980s when he was involved with equities and equity derivatives while on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange.

From 1990 until 2006, Don worked on the institutional fixed income side of the financial markets and had as his clients some of the largest bond buyers in the country. In the mid 1990s, he wrote a computer program to track prepayment speeds on tax-exempt municipal housing bonds which is still used by investment managers today.

He is frequently quoted in both the local and national press regarding bonds, interest rates, and the economy. In 2006, he left the institutional bond business to form Blue Haven Capital with the goal of bringing top tier investment management expertise to individuals and small institutions across the nation.

Don is an Alderman in the City of Geneva and a member of the Geneva Illinois Rotary Club. He is a past Trustee to the Geneva Library Board where he served as Treasurer for more than 12 years. He is a past board member of DayOne Network and previously sat on the Board of the Geneva Park District Foundation. He is an avid runner and swimmer, and a former triathlete who competed in dozens of triathlons ranging from sprint distance to Ironman distance races. Don and his family live in the western suburbs of Chicago.
