The German team comprises four equity partners, two directors (salary partners), two senior associates and four associates. Various team members are also qualified as certified IP specialists under German professional law ("Fachanwälte für Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz").
Areas of practice
In addition to corporate partner Dr. Andreas Woelfle, who is experienced in handling complex cross-border mergers and acquisitions, regulated industries and compliance investigations, the German office includes a recognised intellectual property practice covering patent, utility model, and employee's invention matters, trademark, design, copyright and unfair competition law. Team members are both experienced litigators and tough negotiators. For non-contentious issues, the team boasts particular expertise in providing contractual advice and freedom to operate opinions. The German patent practice is led by partners Dr. Michael Schneider and Dr. Richard Schloetter, supported by director Dr. Peter Koch.
Dr. Alexander Bayer takes particular responsibility for the German trademark and design as well as IT and commercial law practice. In the field of information technology law, clients receive advice on wide-ranging issues: From contracts for the assignment of software, software licensing agreements over e- and m-commerce to the possibility of patenting computer-implemented technology and domain name disputes, the team combines in-depth knowledge with a commercial approach. We regularly help clients to fulfil all legal preconditions for setting up their platforms and other distribution channels, including consumer information and data protection requirements. Our lawyers are noted for their execution of data protection audits, drafting of company guidelines for data handling, and ensuring overall compliance with data protection law.
Another expertise is food and feed law plus adjacent fields of life sciences law such as pharmaceutical, medical devices, cosmetics and chemical law. With a degree in biochemistry director Dr. Ina Gerstberger, who leads the German Food & Drink and Life Sciences Sector team, brings a strong track record in delivering advertising, regulatory and contractual advice to food and life sciences companies. The team is particularly well versed in advising on product delimitation and ingredients associated issues such as novel foods, botanicals, additives as well as on labelling and advertising law including health and nutrition claims, plus feed law with clear focus on intra-European matters. In addition the team is also regularly involved in transactions in the food and pharmaceutical sector. Clients are guided through all stages of project development; from drafting commercial agreements to advice on marketing measures and statutory labelling, notification or authorisation requirements. |
