Overview:
The Inter-American Federation of Insurances Companies, FIDES, is an organization without ends of lucre that groups at present the private insurers Associations of the Americas and the Iberian Peninsula. |

History:
The Inter-American Federation of Insurances Companies, FIDES, is an organization representative of the insurers of Latin America, United States and Spain, which counts already with more than 50 years of experience. It is a Federation without fortitude of lucre that groups the insurers Associations of twenty-two (22) countries in Latin America, United States and the Iberian Peninsula.
FIDES has supported a permanent update in the time, fitting and perfecting its structure as instrument of work to the service of the targets of the insurance activity, attending at all times on the big topics that imply challenge to the capacity, aptitude and efficiency of the insurance.
The Conference I Hemispherical of Insurances, realized in New York, in 1946, was the original step towards the constitution of the Federation which, from his beginnings, has established that without the insurance it is not possible to reach a wide development of the industry and the commerce.
FIDES supports the affiliated associations in aspects tending to solve existing or future worries with regard to the insurance sector, as well as for the areas of training and information, globalization and multilateral integration
FIDES is presided by a President who is elected every two years in Extraordinary General Assembly; also for four Regional Presidents distributed in the North region, I Centre, Andean and South, as well as the Permanent Committees integrated in accordance with topics, targets and activities, as being: Publication Committee, Image Committee, Committee Juridical, Economic Committee, Insurance Training Committee, Technological Committee and Others.
Also it is provided with a General Secretary who is the one that manages the functions and activities of the Federation.
In the last Ordinary General Assembly celebrated in Higuey Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, in October, 2003, Mister Juan Manuel Peña was chosen as President and as General Secretary to the Bachelor José Luis Moncada Rodríguez of Honduran nationality.
FIDES represents to more than one thousand two hundred (1,570) insurance company of the affiliated countries, which generate in the economy of the continent a primaje of more than HUNDRED SIXTEEN BILLION DOLLARS, the premium per capita average is HUNDRED NINETY-NINE DOLLARS, without including EE.UU whose premium per capita average is of THREE THOUSAND SEVENTY HUNDRED FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS. Contributing this way in the Internal Gross Product in 3.75 % more EE.UU with 9.36 %.
