History:
HLB Ler Lum., Chartered Accountants, was established in 1982 as Ler Co. It was set up by Dr Ler Cheng Chye with an initial clientele of 20. Over the next two years, the firm expanded and Mr. Lum Tuck Cheong was admitted as a partner. From 1984, the firm has been actively involved in servicing existing clients and securing new clientele from various industries.
The firm's philosophy is to provide a complete range of services to its clients and to play a positive role towards the growth expansion of the clients' businesses. In this endeavor, among of others, the firm identifies potential areas for improvements and growth, carries out feasibility studies, prepares financial projections and reports to in assisting diets to raise funds, advises on equity and holding structure as well as in undertaking statutory audits, receiverships/liquidation assignments and taxation services. The firm has always maintained close rapport with its clients with the objective of growing with them. In the past, the firm has played key advisory position in the public floatation of a number of companies. Again, presently, the expertise and experience it carries, has found itself filling up similar positions in providing advisory service and assistance in the public listing of certain clients. Over the last five years, a number of clients of which frequent rendering of service was provided to, have grown tremendously in size and profitability and are currently venturing into international projects, particularly in the power generation and distribution, water and sewerage services and tourist related services.
In the area of insolvency / corporate recovery / litigation support services, the firm upholds a high degree of integrity and professionalism in discharge of its duties. The firm has successfully recovered debts from numerous complex assignments including the Supreme Court Case of 'Director of Customs, Federal Territory v Ler Cheng Chye (Liquidator of Castwell Sdn. Bhd., in Liquidation)'. The Supreme Court Case has indeed become one of the noted authorities of the highest order in Malaysia's Insolvency Law. |
