Experience
We are a partner-owned investment bank based in New York, Boston and Atlanta which has completed over 275 mergers, acquisitions and financings with a combined value in excess of $17 billion. Since TM Capital’s founding in 1989, we have earned a reputation for achieving extraordinary outcomes in complex engagements by leveraging our deep transactional and industry expertise, a global roster of relationships with strategic and financial counterparties and creativity in illuminating the “art of the possible” for our clients.
TM Capital advises clients navigating a full range of critical transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, minority and majority recapitalizations, restructurings, and advisory services including takeover defense, fairness and solvency opinions and valuations. We have extensive industry expertise in core sectors including Business Services, Consumer / Retail, Healthcare, Industrial, and Tech / Tech-Enabled Services.

We are a leading member of M&A International Inc., the world’s preeminent alliance of mid-market investment banks. Through MAI, we leverage over 650 professionals in 43 countries around the globe, allowing us to provide local, relationship-driven access to international transaction partners. As a result, nearly one third of our transactions are completed with cross-border counterparties and every TM Capital client benefits from the global reach we achieve through MAI. The alliance has closed 1,400 transactions totaling more than US$75 billion in transaction value in the past five years.

History:
1989
TM Capital Corp. is established in New York City when our founding partners, including Greg Robertson, Paul Smolevitz and Michael Goldman, acquire the investment banking division of Thomson McKinnon Securities Inc. Since our founding, TM Capital’s goal has been to provide client companies with the experience, expertise, resources and focus required to complete complex strategic and financial transactions.
1994
The Firm becomes a cornerstone member of M&A International Inc., the world’s preeminent network of independent investment banks. Today, MAI offers the unparalleled resources of 46 investment banking firms and over 600 professionals practicing in major financial centers around the world. TM Capital assists clients in completing mergers, acquisitions and financings that cross international borders by leveraging the established relationships of our MAI partners around the globe.
2001
The Firm expands into the Southeast by opening its Atlanta office, led by Jim Grien, previously Head of Corporate Finance for Prudential Securities Inc. Jim began his career with TM Capital’s founders at Thomson McKinnon.
2008
TM Capital acquires Boston Corporate Finance, Inc., a technology-focused investment bank and a fellow member firm of M&A International Inc., expanding our footprint to include Boston, New York and Atlanta. The combination creates a leading independent investment bank with deep industry expertise and enhanced global reach. Jim Grien is appointed President of the Firm upon completion of the merger.
2010
Reflecting the Firm’s continued growth and success, TM Capital’s Boston office relocates to the John Hancock Tower in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay district. TM Capital’s New York office relocates from Battery Park to Midtown Manhattan to provide clients with a more central and convenient location in New York City. Rob Grien joins TM Capital to lead our growing leveraged finance practice.
2013
TM Capital expands our global healthcare investment banking practice, now called TM Asante Healthcare Partners, with the addition of James McLaren, the co-founder of Asante Partners. Together, TM Capital and Asante Partners have completed over 75 healthcare mergers, acquisitions and financings valued at over $3 billion.
2014
TM 25th Logo smProudly celebrating our 25th Anniversary in 2014, the TM Capital team includes 30 professionals in its New York, Boston and Atlanta offices. We continue to set records each year for client success, as measured by the value and volume of our completed transactions.
