The Company has provided services to Japan for almost four decades. The Bank of New York has had a presence in Japan since the 1920s. In 1973, the Bank opened a branch office and in 2006 established The Bank of New York Securities Company Japan Ltd., now called The Bank of New York Mellon Securities Company Japan Ltd.

BNY Mellon Asset Management Japan Limited, now called "BNY Mellon Asset Management" was established in 1998 to provide asset management services both for institutional and retail investors in Japan. All are now wholly owned subsidiaries of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation.

From that time we have provided a wide variety of products and services to customers in Japan and continue to meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of a wide range of market participants across Japan.

The Bank of New York Mellon in Japan today:

   * Over 200 staff in the country
   * One of the major asset servicing providers in Japan with $23.1 trillion assets under custody worldwide
   * Over $10 billion in assets under management in Japan
   * More than 56 per cent share in ADRs

BNY Mellon Asset Management Japan Limited is registered with the Kanto Local Finance Bureau as a Type II Financial Instruments Business as defined in the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act (Registration Number: No. 406 (Kinsho) issued by the Director, Kanto Local Finance Bureau), and is also a member of the Investment Trusts Association, Japan and the Japan Securities Investment Advisers Association. BNY Mellon Asset Management Japan Limited is an affiliate of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation and is an independent financial corporation that acts mainly as an intermediary for financial services.
