Helping clients communicate their investment story frequently and accurately to the investment community is the very heart of our business. However, prior to embarking on an active investor communications program corporate management should first consider what it is about their organization that is compelling, or unsettling, from an investor's perspective. They should have an investor relations plan in place, and have the marketing tools required to make a communications campaign successful. Our process ensures our clients don't miss a step. We follow four distinct steps: Discover, Define, Create, Communicate.

Discover
We review and analyze a client's company and industry, assessing market position, the relevant business environment, economic and political risk factors and quality of management. We identify investment peers - companies the client competes with for investors - and use them to benchmark client performance over time and to identify additional potential audiences, channels and tactics.

We conduct an informal Perception Audit, interviewing the investment community to determine key issues and to assess whether the client's investment story is understood as intended.

Define
We develop and write an investor relations plan. This eight- to 12-page document identifies the client's investor relations objectives, outlines strategies and tactics, and schedules 12 months of activities. The plan defines the client's investment argument: the value drivers and market potential that make the client a compelling investment. It is important that the client make the plan available to its Board and to all personnel involved with investors. This encourages internal support for the investor relations program, and ensures communication with the investment community is consistent and accurate.

Create
We conduct an audit that compares the client's investor relations package, website and corporate presentation to a best-practice model and to its peers. We recommend changes, where appropriate, and assist in implementing those changes. We also assist in updating this collateral every quarter or sooner if necessary.

Communicate
By communicating with our extensive investor contacts, Ascenta will increase the frequency of our client's interaction with this community and enhance the recognition and awareness of the client in the capital markets. Ascenta will implement a campaign of investor and broker introductions and respond to all investor inquiries in a timely manner with consistent and objective information on the client. We will track all interaction with investors on behalf of the client and maintain this information in a database. Ascenta will also plan and coordinate client roadshows in selected financial districts in Canada.

Ascenta will plan, coordinate and write copy for an investor marketing campaign. The campaign will comprise multiple platforms, including email marketing, direct mail, investor conferences, print and internet ad placement. The frequency and number of platforms will be adjusted to reflect the client's budget parameters and investor relations objectives.

In consultation with management, Ascenta will assist in drafting all press releases, as well as consult on the content and strategic messaging of all annual and quarterly reports.
