Yuuwa means Sky in Ayapathu which is a language from the Indigenous people of a section of the Cape York Peninsula.

Our tag-line “reach for the sky” provides some insight to our goals with our portfolio.

Yuuwa also has meaning in Japan: yuuwa. 融和, ゆうわ, means “harmony / reconciliation”, a fact the team here were both surprised and pleased to discover.

Yuuwa Capital is a $40M early-stage venture capital firm based in Perth, Western Australia.

We are actively seeking outstanding investment opportunities where Yuuwa can provide both capital and expertise to help founders, management and early investors to turn good ideas into great companies.

As a guide the tactical characteristics of the companies we are interested to invest in are:
Sectors: Software, Life Sciences and Biotech, Communications Technology, Clean Technology
Funding: Seeking early stage investment from $500,000 to $5,000,000
Geography: Prefer Perth, but otherwise Australian based
Business Model: requiring less than $5,000,000 to reach break even or sustainability

Yuuwa Capital’s formation was supported by private investors who work with Candor Financial Management; and also by the Australian Federal Government’s Innovation Investment Fund program and there are a number of specific rules for our investments relating to this element of our funding.
