Captiva Managers to Merge with Caledonian Insurance Services

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (Mar 1, 2012) Captiva Managers is excited to announce its intention to merge with Caledonian Insurance Services to provide captive insurance management services through its offices in the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands and Anguilla.

Captiva currently provides insurance management services in the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands and Anguilla while Caledonian currently provides services in the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands. The merged company will trade under the name of Captiva Managers and the group will represent total annual premiums and assets under management in excess of US$2billion.

Conor Jennings will act as managing director of the combined group. Conor has over twenty years' offshore financial services experience, having lived and worked in Dublin, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Guernsey, British Virgin Islands and most recently with Caledonian in the Cayman Islands. Captiva's founder, Harry J. Thompson, a lawyer with twenty years' financial services experience focused in banking, insurance, hedge funds, and mergers and acquisitions, will continue as group director.

The merger will provide the benefit of combined resources and stronger market leverage, resulting in one of the industry's oldest and largest independent risk specialists in the region. Mr. Jennings said, "Our vision for Captiva is very simple. That is to enjoy the obvious benefits of economies of scale, to utilise our combined legal, insurance, risk management and accounting skills, and to tap into our combined network of international clients and contacts. We have a number of exciting new products already in the pipeline." Mr. Thompson said, "Caledonian is an excellent partner with specializations that complement our business strategy. We are extremely pleased to welcome Conor and his professional associates to Captiva."
