History:

Dreyfus Sons & Co Ltd, Banquiers dates back to the founding of a trading house by Isaac Dreyfus-Bernheim in 1813.

In 1849 his two eldest sons Leopold and Samuel converted the firm into a limited partnership called Isaac Dreyfus Sons. The firm developed successively into a private bank and subsequently played a key role in founding the companies that were to be the predecessors of UBS and Novartis.

In 1868 Jacques, the youngest son of Isaac Dreyfus-Bernheim, founded a sister company in Frankfurt which until 1938 was successfully engaged in banking in Germany. Then the regime compelled one of his descendants to sell the bank. Subsequently he emigrated to Switzerland and his son joined the Bank in Basel, thereby reuniting the family.

In 1942 the previous limited partnership was transformed into a joint-stock company.
