As a privately owned and closely held firm, Thames Batré is accountable to our customers. With that focus and advantage, Thames Batré has grown into the largest privately held insurance brokerage in South Alabama serving both business and individuals with property and liability insurance products and risk services.
Today, we are known and recognized as the leader in our region for purposeful insurance and risk management programs that compliment the needs of our clients and ensure their financial stability and prosperity throughout everyday risks and catastrophic loss. For those clients who want to improve their risk profile, our staff risk manager is available to assist with controls and procedures to achieve improved results and drive down the long-term cost of risk. In short, we apply our knowledge and expertise in a manner that leverages the long-term efficiency and value of our client’s property and liability insurance coverage.
The uniqueness of Thames Batré has not gone unrecognized. We consider it a privilege to claim sixteen consecutive years of being branded as a “Best Practices Agency” by a joint study of Regan Consulting and the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA). This designation involves a process that includes over 1,100 nominees, with only 216 firms being selected. We stand alone as the only privately owned firm in South Alabama to receive this recognition and we are one of the only six Statewide. It is because of our performance-focused employees that we are counted in this elite group.
Serving our clients from offices in Mobile, Alabama, and Gulf Shores, Alabama, we are central to one of the most vibrant and diverse economic regions of our country. History:
It was 1891, in downtown Mobile, Alabama, that Thames Batré began as a partnership between Gustav Thames and Lloyd Batré. At that time, the two men could have only imagined that their small beginnings would, 100 years later, evolve into one of the regions most respected and progressive insurance brokerage firms. Although there is no longer a Thames or a Batré in our ranks, the seeds they planted in 1891 continue to grow and prosper.
Over the years, Thames Batré has benefited from generations of leadership from the Ladd family. Along the way, mergers in 1983 and 1990 brought together the Harry Mattei Agency, Ison Insurance Agency and Beville Insurance Agency, all adding strength, depth and perpetuation to Thames Batré’s solid and firm foundation.
Now, under the thoughtful guidance of today’s group of owners and leaders, Thames Batré continues to add youthful talent with creative and energetic ideas, all assuring a future as bright and promising as our past. |
