OUM was formed in 1976, when Roger Odenberg and James Ullakko left an international accounting firm to establish their own tax practice. John Muranishi, Paul Ainslie, and Chris Millias joined later, to expand the tax practice and add an assurance and advisory practice. Twenty years later the firm opened a second office, in San Diego (Carlsbad). Today OUM has more than seventy professionals, many of whom received their training at Big 4 firms.

We stress active and ongoing partner involvement, candid and timely communication, and continuity of experienced professional staff. Our specialty is providing audit, assurance, tax, and advisory services to public and private companies in the life sciences, technology, real estate, and private equity and investment fund industries. We also specialize in tax planning for high net worth individuals and family-owned businesses.

Our firm is an independent BDO Seidman Alliance firm.
