History:
Deeply rooted in institutional know-how. In 2012, Newport held its initial closing of Newport Capital Partners Fund I, LP, a closed end, co-mingled, discretionary, real estate investment fund with Franklin Templeton’s Emerging Manager Real Estate Fund of Funds (“EMREFF”) as the lead investor. EMREFF investors include Chicago Public School Teachers Pension & Retirement System, Illinois Municipal Retirement System and the Illinois State University Retirement System. To date the Newport Capital Partners Fund I, LP has raised $34 million of investor capital commitments with approximately $100 million of acquisition capacity.
Also in 2012, Newport was awarded a portfolio takeover, and appointed as General Partner of DV Urban Realty Partners I, LP, on behalf of several City of Chicago Pension Plans including the Chicago Public School Teachers Pension & Retirement System, CTA Pension Fund, Laborers’ & Retirement Board Employees' Annuity & Benefit Fund of Chicago, Municipal Employees' Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago, and the Policemen's Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago.
In 2011 Newport expanded its team with the addition of colleagues who had previously worked together at RREEF, LaSalle Partners, and investment partners associated with predecessor affiliates. The Firm has built a leadership team with an extensive background in managing institutional capital, with the perspective and expertise of an investor/operator.
Beginning in 2004 through 2008, on behalf of a group of high net worth investors and a family office, Principals of the Firm began acquiring multi-tenant, in-fill convenience retail property with its partners. Over this time period the Principals acquired and operated 7 retail and mixed-use properties with over $100 million of assets under management. Expanding on its niche investment strategy, ownership transformed the Firm into a vertically integrated boutique real estate investment company in 2008. |
