BNP Paribas Factoring employs about 1,300 professionals and is present across Europe (Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and the United Kingdom), with additional footprints in Asia (Hong Kong) and Africa (Morocco)

History:
1963: Creation by Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (BNL) of Italian factor IFItalia, the first Italian factoring company. In 2006, IFItalia joined BNP Paribas.
1965: Foundation of the Kempische Factor Maatschappij (KEFAM) in Turnhout, Belgium;
1968: Foundation of N.V.Factormaatschappij Nederland by KEFAM. Staff consists of 5 persons and is headquartered in Tilburg, The Netherlands (only management);
1974: Creation of Belgo-Factors N.V. in Belgium. KEFAM becomes holding company;
1987: BNP creates BNP Factor Portugal IFIC SA.;
1987: Foundation of: FMN France, FMN Belgium; Purchase of Belgo-Factors by Generale Bank and Heller International (Chicago);
1989: The foreign company is expanded with a subsidiary in Frankfurt in Germany. Trade name is FMN Finance House;
1990: From AMEV and AG, Fortis is founded. As part of the VSB Group, FMN Finance House forms part of the new concern;
1994: Creation of BNP Factor in France, from the merger between factoring activities of BNP and Universal Factoring.
1997: Creation of Teb Faktoring, subsidiary of Türk Ekonomi Bank designed to provide domestic and export factoring solutions. The company joined BNP Paribas network in 2005.
1998: Purchase of Factormaatschappij De Lage Landen UK;
1999: Purchase of Factormaatschappij De Lage Landen Germany;
2000: FCF becomes one group with one brand as result of merging 10 factors in 5 countries; Partnership with La Caixa for Spanish market;
2001: Opening of Fortis Commercial Finance Italy;
2002: Start-up of export factoring for Hong Kong;
2003: Start-up of export factoring for Poland;
2004: Cooperation for Switzerland via Fortis Commercial Finance Germany;
2005: Creation of Fortis Commercial Finance Luxembourg via split of Eurolease Factor; Creation of back-office joint venture Finodis; Opening of Fortis Commercial Finance Spain; Acquisition of Atradius Factoring (in France, Germany, Italy, Denmark and Sweden); Acquisition of Disfactoring as part of acquisition of Disbank by Fortis Bank SA/NV;
2006: Expansion in Eastern Europe; Acquisition 4Faktor; First successes Finodis;
2007: Start-up of Fortis Commercial Finance Asia in Hong Kong;
2008: Creation of BNP Paribas Factoring Network to consolidate the factoring activities of the Group;
2009: BNP Paribas Fortis Factor is set up and starts business (2010) in the context of an historical relationship between Fortis Bank and BNP Paribas and their capacity to innovate in the field of commercial finance. Opening of the BNP Paribas Factor branch in Spain.
2010: Creation of the BNP Paribas Global Factoring Competence Centre in Brussels following the merger between BNP Paribas and Fortis, with the objective to coordinate all factoring activities within BNP Paribas.
Acquisition of International Trade Partners, specialist in commercial debt management.
2011: BNP Paribas has come to an agreement with ABN AMRO to acquire Fortis Commercial Finance Group, excluding FCF The Netherlands.
2012: BNP Paribas Factoring Network and Fortis Commercial Finance unite under one name: BNP Paribas Factoring. Rebranding of the majority of Fortis Commercial Finance entities to BNP Paribas Factor. |
