History:
Origin and pioneers
The name SOT Süd-Ost Treuhand looks back on a history of more than 70 years. The original auditing tasks with qualified consultancy in account and balance-sheet audit were constantly enlarged with international aspects. The participation with Arthur Young and later the merger with Ernst & Wingy to Ernst & Young characterized the internationalisation as well as the constant development of the group and its name. In addition to the Viennese headquarter new branches were founded in Graz (1985) as well as in Oberwart (1988) in this period.
Development of today’s SOT group
In the middle of the 1990s today’s SOT group separated from the international group, which was sliding more and more into the globalisation under American leadership. The former headquarters in Vienna and the international section were renamed Europa Treuhand Ernst & Young, whereas the predominantly medium-sized sector in the federal provinces - consisting of the sites in Graz and Oberwart in those days - kept the name Süd-Ost Treuhand.
The original company of today’s SOT Süd-Ost Treuhand group is SOT Graz, which was founded by Friedrich Spritzey and Walter Wundsam in 1985. Soon after the foundation Manfred Kraner joined SOT Graz and essentially helped in shaping the development of the site together with Friedrich Spritzey. On Friedrich Spritzey’s instigation SOT Burgenland in Oberwart, which had been founded together with Hans Roth, merged in 1988. SOT Burgenland founded a branch office in Eisenstadt in 1994, which was taken over by Gerhard Draskovits. In 1997 SOT Klagenfurt was founded on Anton Schmidl’s instigation, who had participated substantially in building up SOT Graz before. Ewald Klösch, who had been an important employee of SOT Graz before, founded SOT Salzburg in 1999.
In 1999 the SOT Holding was founded in order to give the necessary structure to the group, which already included a large number of companies covering many parts of Austria. At the same time it was possible to win experienced consultants with already existing offices, being Alois Manhartsgruber in Linz as well as Gabi Sprinzl and Martina Heidinger in Vienna. Austria has been covered almost completely since 2005, when Christoph Lauscher transferred from one of the largest auditing and consulting companies in Austria to the SOT group.
The SOT Holding carries the name SOT and forms the key turning point of the group. It mainly attends to the development of the label SOT and the strategic development of the group. At the end of the 1990s, the qualified service of the SOT group’s clients required looking beyond the Austrian borders.
Together with regional cooperation partners, who have a similar structure and are well anchored in their home markets, respective branch offices were founded in Munich (cooperation partner Kleeberg & Partner), Budapest (cooperation partner HBP Klient), Szombathely (cooperation partner Höfle), Udine/Trieste (cooperation partner Studio Cecone, Grassi, Urso, Cattaruzzi, Guglielmucci), Ljubljana (cooperation partner Prusnik) und Zagreb (cooperation partner Pecarevic).
With the SOT group’s membership in MSI Global Alliance, one of the largest interdisciplinary associations of independent consulting companies, it was possible to create an international connection, which offers high-quality consulting performance to the clients of the SOT group in 100 countries in the world.
