Mission statement: 

The Fire Services Credit Union will build and nurture enduring relationships with Ontario Fire Fighters and their families. We will offer competitive financial products and services that make a meaningful contribution to the financial well-being of our members. We will serve Ontario Fire Fighters professionally, providing sound financial advice that meets their individual needs and exceeds their service expectations.
Overview: 

Fire Services Credit Union is a full-service credit union that is dedicated to the financial well being of fire services employees and their families. We are regulated by the province of Ontario, all deposits are insured (just like the banks) and we offer a full suite of products and services, in branch and online, by telephone and at ATMs across Canada. Just like the banks—only without all that institutional stuff.

Membership in the Fire Services Credit Union is open to both active and retired employees of fire departments in Ontario, as well as civic employees of the former borough of East York, and the extended family members of both these groups. Spouses, children, parents, and siblings can all take advantage of everything we have to offer!

At Fire Services Credit Union, we believe, in support of our Vision and Mission statements, that it is our responsibility to provide financial coaching to our members in order to build their net worth. Engage the entire Fire Services Credit Union team in support of our Corporate Social Responsibility policy.
Ensure ongoing and pertinent communications with all stakeholders.

Primarily provide resources to assist charities and organizations that support the Fire Services community.

Identify our direct and indirect environmental impacts and develop programs to manage them.
Benchmark against other, similar organizations and initiate reporting and knowledge sharing relationships.
Meet or exceed basic compliance with all environmental legislation and regulation, and to continually improve our performance.
With Our Suppliers, we will strive to:
Evaluate suppliers against our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy.
Have open communication.
We will achieve this by:
Raising awareness of our social and environmental responsibility among staff, members, leadership, suppliers and the Fire Services community.
Adopting policies and programs that address specific areas of our social and environmental responsibilities.
Openly reporting on our Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

Wherever possible, we will emphasize this policy in our day-to-day business and live it in our interactions with our members, suppliers and staff.
Vision: 

To be the financial institution of choice in helping Ontario Fire Fighters and their families build secure financial futures.
History: 

It all began in 1941. With the world at war, the founding members of our Credit Union were intent on building a strong financial future for Fire Fighters and their families. Our first offices were located in fire halls, wherever there was available space. There were initially 21 members, and assets totalled $3,278.

The first mortgages were approved in 1948 and the terms were simple. The amount could not exceed $3,500, taking into consideration that department salaries that year started at $2,191 and climbed up to the $7,000 earned by the Chief.

In 1993 we purchased our Avenue Road site and our growth continued. Today we have about 4,500 members and assets totalling approximately $68,000,000.

The years from 2005 to 2010 brought a number of challenges, including changes to regulatory standards, an economic recession, increasing competition, and rapid technological advancements. In 2010 we changed our name to Fire Services Credit Union and adopted a new logo, reflecting our nature as a modern credit union embracing new ways of serving a new generation of Fire Services employees.

Much has changed since 1941, but our commitment remains the same: to build strong financial futures for our members.
