Overview:
Young Conaway's clients range from national and international corporations, to small businesses and individuals needing legal assistance. Many of our clients are colleagues from major law firms throughout the U.S. and around the world. Young Conaway attorneys are asked to serve as co-counsel for some of the most significant bankruptcy and corporate law matters being decided in the courts today. State and local governments, school districts, banks, land developers and professional practices utilize the depth of our resources and litigation experience for employment, real estate, tax planning and business matters.
Young Conaway has played a role in many groundbreaking cases and has helped shape legislative and case law in Delaware for half a century. Our attorneys routinely appear before federal and Delaware state courts and agencies, and actively participate in issues before the Delaware legislature.
Headquartered in Wilmington, Young Conaway’s office provides easy access to the J. Caleb Boggs Federal Building, home to the United States District Court for the District of Delaware; as well as Marine Midland Plaza, home to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Equally as accessible are the Elbert N. Carvel State office building, home to the Delaware Supreme Court; and the New Castle County Courthouse, home to the renowned Court of Chancery, the Superior Court and the Court of Common Pleas. In addition to its headquarters, Young Conaway has offices in both Georgetown and Middletown, Delaware.
Our Legal Family
Young Conaway is proud of its rich history, with many former partners having served as members of the state and federal judiciary or in public office as Delaware’s Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner or a member of the State legislature. Others have moved on to prominent corporate counsel positions. In addition, our attorneys have held positions of distinction throughout a myriad of law-related organizations, frequently chairing committees designed to improve the practice of law and increase the international image and reputation of Delaware’s practitioners and courts.
The 2010 edition of Chambers USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business, ranked Young Conaway a leader in 8 practice areas and recognized 20 individual attorneys as leaders in their respective fields. The firm ranked first in Delaware for its Bankruptcy/Restructuring, Labor & Employment, and Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use practices. The Chancery, Corporate/M&A, Intellectual Property and Real Estate practice areas were also ranked among the top firms in the state.
Thirty-one Young Conaway attorneys were selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2011 edition, published by Woodward/White, Inc. Since 1983, The Best Lawyers in America® represents 30 specialties in all 50 states and Washington, DC. Results are compiled through a peer-review survey in which thousands of lawyers in the U.S. confidentially evaluate their professional peers. |
